question: source for HCG?

So I took my prescription for HCG that I scored to my grocery store, where I filled all my prescriptions until I started getting my thyroid meds from Canada (thanks Barbie!) and quit taking tamoxifen. The pharmacist told me that he doesn't have any other customers who buy HCG and he'd have to order ten vials (and I only need one) so he can't really waste hundreds of dollars in un-needed drugs. So I need to get it elsewhere. (He also didn't know whether it came with needles or other things I think I would need to know.)

So, does anyone know of a chain pharmacy that usually offers HCG? Or, if you live in the DC area and have any specific suggestions, that would be delightful too.

I have a week or so to get it, but not forever. So, I'm hoping I can pull it off. Thanks, as always, oh wise infertile women...

  1. Hi, misfit. I've read your blog for a while but never commented before. When I first got my prescription for HCG, I had no luck finding a pharmacy where I live that carried it on hand. I ended up getting it from CV.S Carem.ark who mailed it to me. However, they refused to mail syringes because my doctor didn't write a separate prescription for that. I didn't have time to get that prescription, so I just walked into a chain store pharmacy and asked to buy the number of syringes I needed. You need two sizes--one for mixing and one for injecting...hopefully you know that already. I had an instruction sheet from the clinic which explained how many of each size to get which I pulled out when buying the syringes...I thought that made me look more believable that I was using the syringes for medicine and not something else. ;) Since then I've purchased syringes from three different chains without a problem (other than them being out of stock). This cycle I'll order my HCG from Ku.bat Pharmacy (mailed from Omaha) because it is about half the price of anywhere else I have seen...that is assuming they haven't raised their prices much in the last few months (which I doubt). Also, I don't think Kub.at's required an extra prescription for syringes... I don't know how fast shipping is, but a week seems like enough time. Hope some of that info is helpful for you. :)

  2. I am sorry to hear this. My pharmacy did the same thing to me when I started taking it. Annoying. However, when I used my insurance's mail order pharmacy, they sent me 90 days worth and it was actually free-after a long battle about IF use for it or not...Is it hcg that you can get in italy ($18 but you need two) and also through kubats and fertility friend (about $50 each) for relatively cheap or is that progesterone? Good luck!

  3. Hello!! I am about to start my first IUI cycle and just order the HCG Trigger Shot. I had to go though Freedom Pharmacy which is an online pharmacy. They fedex it to you next day. I don't have any insurance coverage for meds so I had to pay the cash price which was $50.00

  4. When I was on it last year, I was getting it from F.reedom F.ertility P.harmacy (http://www.freedomfertility.com/). I had a horrible time trying to find it and I think it was Mrs. Mike who told me about them. They were very reasonably priced at the time (like about $45) and overnighted it too me with needles, sharps container, etc all included. I think Sew blogged a while back that they had a price increase.

  5. I know my pharmacy got one that they can order in smaller quantities, but I can't think of the name. I will look at the box next time I get it refilled--remind me in case I forget! My pharmacy is a local one but I don't know what wholesalers they use. I'll get you the name as soon as I refill in a few weeks.

  6. I haven't taken HCG for a long while but most recently, I was getting it from a pharmacy in Rome, Italy (per Dr. Hilger's rec). They don't take US insurance (that I know of) but it was something like $27.00/cycle and that included air shipment. You do need a valid Rx...all you need to do is make a copy of it and fax it to them. They handle everything by email and secure CC transaction. I was very very pleased with my experience there (even if it never yielded a pregnancy) http://www.farmaciacerati.it/index_eng.asp
